That little voice inside

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.” – Albert Einstein

I have no intuition… just as much as the earth is flat

I used to think and say that I didn’t have intuition. It’d be the equivalent of saying now that the earth is flat… nonsense!

But little did I know then that it had nothing to do with having or not having intuition, but all to do with listening to it.

We are busy in our day-to-day lives and pressed by the norms society tries to impose on us. So much, that we often forget to stop and allow the time and space to listen to our little voice inside. What do I really want? How do I feel in this situation? What better decisions should I make? What crazy ideas would revolutionise my work?

Richard Branson himself said that he relies far more on gut instinct than researching huge amounts of statistics. I wish more business leaders would follow these words…

I have learnt over the past two years to listen to my gut feelings. It is an ongoing chore that can at times be challenging, but also very rewarding. It is in fact entirely my intuition that sent me off on this sabbatical.

In March this year, I decided to do an Intuitive Coaching course. Here are a few tips I learnt to help tap into that precious little voice:

1. Allow the time and space to listen to your intuition

2. Do not judge it

3. You can ask yourselves questions like these to help probe your intuition:

  • What’s that little voice inside of me saying?
  • What would I tell a friend in the same situation as me?
  • What’s my gut feeling about this?
  • When I think about this, how does it make me feel?

4. Believe in it and follow through!

I’ll share with you in a future post an exercise you can do to help follow your intuition when you need to make a decision. Stay tuned!

  1. What a great little note Kim. Reading it gives me confidence in my gut feeling and a positive feel about today!

  2. I always feel a little more enlightened and focused after digesting your thoughts! I hope your journey is bringing you enlightenment and focus!

    • Wow! Thank you so much Sarah! The aim of this blog is exactly that – to share and bring nuggets of inspiration into my life and hopefully the lives of others too. So if it’s what I’ve managed to do thus far, I’m a happy woman! 🙂
